Pete Morely-Watts, Swan’s Director of Care and Support has scooped the ‘Housing Professional of the Year’ award at the prestigious 24 Housing Awards and the Housing Essex Excellence Awards. Pete, who has worked for Swan since 2015 has had a significant impact on the lives of many vulnerable people throughout his career. He is also dedicated to being the best manager he can and recently became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management.
Pete’s award recognises the support he provides to ensure his team continuously improve the way they deliver Swan’s high performing care and support services. It also celebrates the close partnerships he has helped Swan to forge with the Foyer Federation and local NHS commissioning teams such as the North Essex Clinical Commissioning Group.
As part of his partnership working at Swan Pete Chairs the National Housing Federation’s Health, Housing and Care Network (Eastern Region); is a Trustee for the Foyer Federation and a Director of the Essex Care Association. In his free time he isis also Secretary and founding member of Essex Pride with a key role organising Essex’s annual Pride event.
Pete enjoys opportunities to join customer facing activities whenever he can. He recently joined staff and residents during a three-day trip to Thriftwood Activity Centre in Brentwood where young residents living in Swan’s Supported Housing enjoyed a variety of activities including canoeing, archery and abseiling.
Pete said “I was honoured to be nominated for these two awards and absolutely delighted to have won! I accept the awards on behalf of our staff team at Swan who we can rely on, every single day, to provide an amazing care and supported housing service to hundreds of our customers. Having worked in this sector for over 20 years there are many highlights to my career, these awards have added another two. I am looking forward to the future in the housing and care sector. Every day is different, every day is challenging, but our customers achieving their goals, will always keep me striving for the best."
