The party hats have been out at Oakroyd House! One of our wonderful residents celebrated her 100th Birthday. Over 50 people joined the fabulous tea party that had been arranged to ensure the perfect celebration.

Our resident grew up in London and joined the Royal Air Force as an airframes mechanic in 1941. After the war in 1945 she left the RAF and joined the Territorial Army where she drove large trucks. She then went on to join the General Post Office in 1947 as an international telephone operator. It was here that she met her best friend and they have remained great friends ever since. The highlight of the day was our resident's best friend attending the party having not seen each other in five years.

The party was a touching occasion to celebrate a very deserving lady!
